Gursimran Datla is an aspiring Film-maker and Writer currently residing in Toronto, Canada. He completed his post-graduation in  Advanced Film-making as well as a Post graduation Certificate in Arts Managemet. An avid film enthusiast, he was the co-founder of film society “Chandigarh Creative Cinema Circle”(India).

In May 2017, his short film ‘Refuge’ won best film at the Donny Awards.


He has received the Peter Dickinson award nominee for critical and creative thinking. He was selected for a mentor-ship program by LIFT Toronto.He has written and directed 5 short films, successfully screened at various film festivals.

Gursimran was one of the finalists of the Sundance/Roger Ebert Fellowship for Film Criticism. He is currently working on two feature scripts based on immigration and resistance among different generations.
